Want a really classy looking color grade without breaking a sweat, or learning color theory? The Gradient Map adjustment layer allows you to apply colors tothe shadows and highlights in your photo, which can be used for creating creative color effects,or black-and-white conversions. Click on the Create New Adjustment Layer icon (half-black/half-white circle) at the bottom of the Layers panel, and select Gradient Map. In the Properties panel (Window>Properties), click on the gradient ramp to open the Gradient Editor. Double-click the color stop below the gradient ramp on the left to open the Color Picker, and choose a color to apply to the shadows, and then use the color stop on the right to choose a color for the highlights. You can also click below the ramp to add additional color stops. Click OK to close the Gradient Editor. Finally, reduce the layer Opacity to see a nice tint effect.
