Have you met KelbyOne member Wayne Gillespie yet? He photographs landscapes, animals, and flowers. Keep reading to get to know the man behind the image!

1.) Can you tell us a little bit about your photo?

This image was captured in Antequera, Spain while on a 3 week road trip in the fall of 2016. We stayed in this town to avoid the crowds in Granada, which is about an hour away. What a beautiful place to stay, as it turned out. My wife and I were exploring the city that evening at sunset and were walking through the Alcazaba of Antequera, which is a centuries-old, Moorish fortress on the hill above town. The bell tower of the Cathedral and some of the lovely town of Antequera can be seen in the distance. I took the picture to capture the beautiful light and used the cutout in the wall as a natural frame. My wife (who has a good eye for these things) suggested the composition. We make a good team as long as I keep my ears open and follow her advice.

2.) What gear/software did you use to create this image?

I used a Canon 6D with a 24-105 mm lens and processed it in Lightroom.(Below is the full image.)

3.) What do you like to photograph?

For four years, since I retired, I have been spending my time trying to become a landscape photographer. My biggest problem is my disdain for being awake before dawn and getting motivated at sunset. Lately, I have been spending a lot of time shooting flowers in my black box (inspired by Melanie Kern-Favilla) in my living room. I have really enjoyed the close up work and being able to do it during daylight hours is an added benefit.

4.) How long have you been a KelbyOne member and what made you decide to become a member?

I have been a KelbyOne member for two years. When I started this photo adventure four years ago, I started with local classes and then online tutorials and eventually found my way to KelbyOne. If I had started with KelbyOne, I would have saved myself a lot of wasted time and effort. What a great place to learn! And the community is so helpful and knowledgeable it makes it a joy to be a member. I plan to stay here as long as I possibly can.
