Can you tell us a little bit about the image, Serenity in the Mist?

This location is called Latourell Falls which is in the Columbia River Gorge near the outskirts of Portland, Oregon. I had always heard about the row of amazing waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge so my family decided to drive down from Seattle to check them out. While we were checking out the waterfall, I almost missed seeing the lower portion of the falls had it not been for a few people who emerged from a small path with their clothes drenched. I decided to follow this path and as I turned around the bend in front of me was the most beautiful falls I had ever seen. The sound was loud yet calming. To capture this shot I had to position myself on a small arched wooden bridge and used the railing to capture this timed shot. I had to wait for a gap in foot traffic on the bridge to prevent camera shake as I had forgotten to bring my tripod along.

What gear/software did you use to create this image?

This photo was captured with my Canon EOD 5D Mark III with my Canon 24-105mm f4 L lens w/ UV filter. The bridge handrail was used as a tripod. Photo was shot in RAW and processed in Lightroom.

How long have you been a KelbyOne member and what made you decide to become a member?

I have been a KelbyOne member for 9 months so far and it has been the best investment I have made in my quest and passion to improving my photography skills. I had been wanting to further my photography and post-processing skills and KelbyOne was my one-stop for tutorials by well-known experts who are at the top of their game.
