Why do we get excited for Mondays?
Because we get to show off work from our members and they’re so darn talented! Meet Eileen Kotak—she’s a photographer and graphic designer from Hauppauge, New York. The image you see above is hers. Keep reading to learn more about her photo.
1.) Can you tell us a little bit about your photo?
In the middle of our July vacation in Yellowstone National Park, I woke up to frigid temperatures the morning of my photo walk. This unusual summer weather created such drama with fog coming off the ground and frost glistening on the grass that I had to capture it. I wish I could say I had to hike miles through Yellowstone to get this image, but such a beautiful spot was just off the parking lot of the Old Faithful Inn!
2.) What gear/software did you use to create this image?
I shot this image with my Sony a6000, with the 18-55 mm lens, f/8, 100 iso. I then processed the raw image in Lightroom, with the basic adjustments to open the shadows, reduce the highlights and increase the vibrance.
3.) What do you like to photograph?
I love to travel and began taking photos of landscapes I saw in different places. My passion for photography has since extended to portraits and food photography.
4.) How long have you been a KelbyOne member and what made you decide to become a member?
I decided to become a KelbyOne member because whenever I watched one of Scott’s videos, everything seemed to click. He just has a great style of teaching. I have been a KelbyOne member for only a year and a half, and I love the community and challenges at KelbyOne.
