Member Monday Featuring Edward Garcia

City life and travel photographer Edward Garcia is a prime candidate for our Member Monday spotlight. From his portfolio, we can clearly see that he has an eye for catching the beautiful moments of his city from above. See this breathtaking view of Downtown Miami for yourself!

About the Photo

This photo is of Brickell Key in Downtown Miami.  It was taken during my first photographic helicopter ride.  After the experience, I fell in love with aerial photography.  It was scary to fly without doors but at the same time thrilling.  Miami is a beautiful city but especially after seeing it for the first time from a helicopter.  It is a totally different point of view; you can appreciate the grandeur when seen from above.  The shot combines my love for photography, Miami and now aerial photography.

Gear and Software

The photo was taken using a Nikon D7000.  However, I am currently using a Nikon D500 and an Olympus OM-D EM1 Mark II.  As for the software, I prefer to use Lightroom.

Photography Preferences

I consider myself a “City Life” photographer which I describe as a mixture of Travel and Landscape photography.  I also like to shoot Sports whenever possible.  My motto is “Travel for the soul, photography for the memories”.

Photography Inspiration

I’ve been a Kelby One member for a couple of years now.  I find myself learning primarily from Scott Kelby.  He has been my inspiration and everything I know I’ve learned from his video tutorials and classes (Lightroom, Composition, etc.).  Prior to a couple of years ago, I had no experience using Lightroom.  I am also trying to learn Photoshop and I find that the courses taught by Dave Cross are excellent too.

Favorite KelbyOne Class

Choosing a single class is rather difficult since I’ve learned a little from all of them.  However, I would have to say that the Lightroom track and the travel instructional classes are the most inspiring.

He primarily uses Instagram @iberiantourist for his photography.  Recently, he’s also joined Twitter @iberiantourist. Show him some appreciation for this stellar photo!
