I’m very glad I signed up for the VIP program. The order of the coaching sessions has been a huge help in getting me organized (both my images and my workflow). I’m running to catch up so that I get my portfolio review done before the end of the year. I really need it. Meeting other VIP members is another learning opportunity. Everyone has a story and something to teach. The whole experience has given me a boost of confidence to keep on keeping on.

The first thing that I achieved was getting all of my photos into one catalog on one external disk drive with an external service to back it up. I had 90K photos spread over 6 catalogs, over 5 disk drives, none of which were backed up. Forcing me to do this in the beginning was worth the price of the class. The next big thing for me was the creation of portfolios. I had no portfolio. Unless you call 90K photos in a catalog a portfolio. The third thing I want to mention is how much the one-on-one portfolio review meant to me. I have a number of Scott’s books and love his videos on the website. The chance to meet him and have him review my portfolio is right up there with meeting and spending an hour talking to Bill Clinton.

It greatly accelerated my knowledge of photography and importantly covered areas I had no prior knowledge of such as copyright, legal considerations, the nuances of printing, etc. I found it all helpful, but I most benefited from the photo critiques and my portfolio review. Switching from a KelbyOne Pro membership to a VIP membership has been the best decision I have ever made regarding improving my skills as a photographer and increasing the “fun factor” of my photography. I find myself looking forward to the coaching session, masterclass, and podcast each month. I regularly take courses on KelbyOne and have learned so much that I don’t watch YouTube videos about photography any longer. As a VIP member the additional sessions each month have provided a great seamless additional avenue to learn to the courses and the workshops over the past year.
I try to take advantage of the opportunities for feedback from Scott and Erik both during the podcasts and the one-on-one portfolio reviews. I didn’t have a portfolio prior to my VIP membership and today I have images that I am proud of and bring me tremendous joy. I attended my first Photography workshop with Scott and Erik to Santorini in May. I was able to schedule a portfolio review with Erik prior to the workshop. His feedback was invaluable and helped me tremendously at the workshop. It definitely changed the way I approach my travel photography.
