Two-in-One Mitt and Photography Glove

Review by Dave Williams

New to the line-up from Vallerret Photography Gloves is the Skadi LRS, which combines their Polartec Power Stretch Pro glove liners with a pair of mittens for unparalleled warmth and control. At extreme temperatures, or simply on mildly cold days out in the field, these gloves solve the problem of cold fingers.

The main part of the mitten features a zipper that reveals the fingers, and the thumb makes use of a Flip-Tech system, secured with magnets, that allows the thumb tip to be exposed. The removable glove liner incorporates touchscreen-ready fingertips that enable you to use your camera or smartphone controls without removing the glove, keeping that extra layer of warmth trapped, so you can focus on your creativity.

The gloves can be stowed easily on the outside of a camera bag using the carabiner clip, and they can also be secured to your wrists using the storm leash. This elasticated wrist strap tethers the mittens to keep them close at hand during deep-winter photoshoots. There’s also a pocket in the back of the mitt with a built-in tripod key, which means the right tool is always handy.

In terms of warmth, the Skadi LRS Zipper Mitt features a 100% Merino wool lining, Primaloft mid-layer insulation, a gauntlet under the cuff, and a laminated DWR outer shell that’s resistant to water and wind. Designed in Norway specifically for photographers and videographers, the Skadi LRS Zipper Mitt, with its added inner glove liner, is a two-in-one product that enables creativity in a range of challenging temperatures.
