Member Monday Featuring Brent Currie

Imagine looking up outside and seeing a sky like this!? It’s hard to picture in a city, but out in Yellowknife—an area of the Northern Territories of Canada—you might catch a glimmer of this natural wonder.

When we saw this photo submitted by photographer Brent Currie, we just knew we had to share it!

Take a look at the photo below, and see what you think!

About the Photo

I usually don’t go out looking for aurora, but in early September it seems to find me.  We were sitting around the campfire at Fred Henne Campground, here in Yellowknife, and I looked up and saw the sky starting to turn green.  So I grabbed my camera and wide-angle lens and went to the beach (about 50 feet away) to capture some aurora.  I guess I will call this one “Aurora Reflections”.

Gear and Software

Shot in RAW, and processed with Adobe Lightroom Classic.

Photography Preferences

I mostly shoot sports, events, and aviation, but I do some family photos, landscapes, and real estate work.  If I had to pick a favorite, I would pick Airshows and Drag Racing.

Photography Inspiration

Dave Black is The Man! I also follow Joe McNally, Moose Peterson, and Scott Kelby.  These are the guys that are my benchmarks.

Favorite KelbyOne Class

Dave Black and Scott Kelby shooting High School Football, these guys are funny when they work together…  Great tips for all sports in this class too.
