Advanced Display Calibration for Your Devices
Review by Michael Corsentino
Wrapping your head around the complexities of color calibration can be intimidating even for the most experienced. Calibrating your screens is critical, as it allows you to display consistent color from one device to another. With the ubiquity of computer screens, smart phones, and tablets, consistency is king. The last thing anyone wants is that the image you’ve slaved over, perfecting it on the desktop, looks like crap when you show it off on your tablet, smart phone, or laptop. That’s where calibrating each screen comes in.
In the past, achieving consistent, calibrated, pro-level color from device to device was both complicated and expensive. The longtime leader in the calibration space, X-Rite, has remedied both issues with their new i1Display Studio, an affordable, easy-to-use solution that makes consistent, calibrated color available to everyone.
No rocket science here: calibrating is simple and straightforward. The i1Display Studio’s wizard walks you step by step through the process, making it quick and easy. The X-Rite wizard also reminds you when it’s time to recalibrate screens, as colors can shift over time. Calibrate your computer monitor, laptop screen, tablet, smart phone, and projector in a matter of minutes. Now all your images will look exactly the same, regardless of the device on which you’re viewing them. (If you need printer calibration, as well, take a look at X-Rite’s i1Studio.)
The X-Rite i1Display Studio allows color matching for up to four separate displays and includes: Flare Correct technology; ambient light measurement for seamless consistency regardless of viewing conditions; and support for all leading video standards. Now you can take the guesswork out of color calibration once and for all without breaking the bank or your brain! ■
What is the difference between i1Display and X-rite’s ColorMunki Display?
I just purchased this product within the past month. While it did eventually calibrate my monitor, it was painful to get through because the software is HORRIBLE. Numerous crashes at various points during calibration caused me to restart several times. And the manual is a joke. I work for a software company and I would be ashamed if we released a program this sub-par. I saw many recent reviews on Amazon that confirmed my opinion.
