Travel Lighter with this Water-Filled Weight Bag
Review by Michael Corsentino
Adding to his stable of innovative products, renowned headshot photographer Peter Hurley gives us the HurleyPro H2Pro Weight Bag, a clever new take on the venerable sandbag. In partnership with F.J. Westcott Company, Hurley has redesigned the typically bulky, heavy, and all-but-impossible-to-ship sandbag into a compact, lightweight, must-have tool for photographers on the go.
Typically, sandbags are filled with lead shot, sand, or even rocks, making them bulky, heavy, cost-prohibitive to ship, and challenging to fill on location. The HurleyPro H2Pro Weight Bag solves all that by using a high-quality removable and refillable water bladder to provide weight. With its large, easy-close, no-leak lid, adding water on-location is as easy as finding a faucet, hose, stream, pool, etc. You can fill this thing anywhere, anytime! When filled, a single HurleyPro H2Pro Weight Bag provides 8.7 lbs. of weight. For heavier loads, multiple bags can be joined together via a full-length zipper located on the side of each bag. When you’re done using the HurleyPro H2Pro Weight Bag, simply empty the water bladder and pack this now light-as-a-feather “sand” bag away for future use.
Housed in a heavy-duty fabric bag that’s designed to stand up to rigorous years of location use, each weight bag includes a nylon strap for hanging, where needed, as well as for easy transportation.
The HurleyPro H2Pro Weight Bag delivers top-notch build quality with no-leak reliability. We all know sandbags are a must when it comes to keeping light stands in place, gear stable, and talent (a.k.a. subjects) safe and secure. The last thing anyone wants are lights or boom arms falling on someone. Until now, weight bags have been bulky, heavy, and onerous to use and transport locally, let alone check onto a plane. The HurleyPro H2Pro Weight Bag changes all that! ■
