Member Monday Featuring Jeffrey Burrell

Have you ever stared down the eyes of a Lion? KelbyOne member, Jeffrey Burrell “King of the Jungle has.

About the Photo

The photo was taken at T&D’s Cats of the World, a refuge for abused, mistreated and unwanted animals, located in Penns Creek, PA.  This was a surprise trip to the refuge for me on Father’s Day!

The subject’s name is Thor an African Lion who became very sick for unknown reasons at his previous home.  T&D’s took Thor in and gave him top-notch medical treatment.  It was determined that he was suffering from a vitamin deficiency and after treatment made a full recovery.

The planets really aligned for me to get this shot.  I was in the right place at the right time, with the right lens.  Thor laid down on a large log facing me and after a few minutes, and a couple of hundred frames—stared right down my lens.  It’s a bit unnerving to be sized up by such a large predator!  But its a shot that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

There are too many things to list here!  I have to say I’ve been inspired by just about everything on KelbyOne. Scott and Moose, I would say have been my go-to instructors.

Favorite KelbyOne Class

Really any class with Scott!

I have watched, taken notes and rewatched multiple classes including 10 Essential Tips Every Landscape Photographer Should Know, Learn Lightroom CC in One Hour, Travel Photography: A Photographer’s Guide to New York City, Beginner Sports Photography, etc.

Some things I already know, some things I don’t, but Scott always keeps things entertaining!
