If you haven’t met or heard of Gregory Van Gansen, it’s time you do. Gregory is a professional sports photographer based out of Antwerp, Belgium. He’s photographed soccer, cycling, boxing, and more—we chose to take a closer look at one of his soccer photos.

1.) What can you tell us about this photo

The image was shot during a soccer game in the Belgian first division league on a summer evening. It was shot for a wire service (Photonews). The end result was 3-4 for the whites. The white team had to defend the lead with all their effort as you might be able to see on the image. As sports is about emotion and the peak moment of action I really like the effort going into this image.

2.) What gear/software did you use to create this image?

The image was shot with a Nikon D4s and a 400 mm2.8 at 800 iso 2.8 1/1000.

3.) What do you like to photograph?

Definitely Sports. That’s the reason why I started photographing. Really happy I was able to make it my profession and be a full time photographer right now.

4.) What made you decide to become a member?

I’ve only been a member since 2017. I decided to become a member because I really learned a lot of the Sports shooting Tutorial of Scott (google class or something like that). As I’m constantly trying to improve my general level, I decided to become a member. I really want to learn more about retouching and commercial photography.
