27″ Monitor with Perfect Colors

Review by Gilmar Smith

The Eizo ColorEdge CS2731 is a 27″ QHD (Quad High Density), wide-gamut monitor with a screen resolution of 2560×1440 pixels that offers color precision ensured via a 16-bit LUT and 10-bit color reproduction. The CS2731 has an ergonomic base that’s adjustable and stable. You can tilt and swivel the screen, and use it in portrait or landscape mode. The flicker-free monitor offers uniform color across the whole screen, which has an anti-reflection coating that diffuses reflected light to minimize glare.

So what does all that mean to us? It translates to color and pixel accuracy that’s easy on the eyes, not only because of the beauty of its colors but also because it’s flicker-free, so our eyes won’t get so tired. The Eizo CS2731 was designed for photographers, filmmakers, and designers, and offers a wide gamut covering 99% Adobe RGB.

Did I say perfect colors? The monitor comes with USB-C (DisplayPort signal channel and power supply up to 60 W), Display-Port, DVI-D, and HDMI ports. It also has a USB hub with two USB 3.1 and two USB 2.0 downstream ports.

Unlike Eizo’s CG series, the CS2731 doesn’t have a built-in calibration device. (If you wish, you can get either an Eizo EX3 or a third-party Eizo-compatible calibration device.) Eizo monitors are calibrated with Eizo’s ColorNavigator software that’s free, fast, and easy to use.

The monitor comes with a 5-year warranty, and color and brightness warranty for a maximum of 10,000 hours of operation.

If you’re serious about color accuracy in your work and prints, I’d definitely recommend you make the investment and get an Eizo ColorEdge CS2731 monitor. They’re worth every penny! ■
