That’s a ton of good advice.
Some of the 20 really hit home. To be honest, I totally get number 8, but I often do worry about making my client happy. In defense of the general idea, find a style, shoot your way, and find clients who like that style.
But for me, if I want my images from the zoo published, I do need to consider what makes the marketing folks happy now and then. Fortunately, that is usually what makes me happy, so we’re good. But now and then, I find that the zoo’s needs do not always match my artistic desires. So after shooting for the way I know that the zoo might want a particular photograph, I keep shooting. For myself.
