Are you looking for an older document and forget where you saved it? No one is judging; we all do it from time to time. You can look at the thumbnails on the welcome screen, or try this: Choose File>Open Recent. Sometimes you’ll see what you’re looking for and sometimes you wish Photoshop remembered a little further back, or a few more documents. The good news? It does, and it can, and it’s not too late! Open Photoshop>Settings>File Handling (PC: Edit>Preferences>File Handling). At the bottom, you’ll see a Recent Files List Contains option with 20 in the box. You can change this number up to 100. This is the good part: As soon as you close the Preferences dialog, the Open Recent list will be updated to show the previous 100 files. This has been a lifesaver for me.
