High-Performance Wireless Mouse

Review by Dave Williams

The items that connect you to your computer are incredibly important. Logitech takes this seriously and, in their own words, “They’ve remastered an iconic mouse for Mac.” After using the Logitech MX Master 3S for Mac for a month, I’d say that they’ve done a great job. What’s particularly great about this mouse is that it can be customized for specific apps; for example, if you work in Adobe Premiere Pro, the lateral scrolling is useful for navigating the timeline.

This mouse is designed to offer comfort as you use it—there’s a nice curve over the top, and a dedicated space for your thumb. It’s not the most ergonomic mouse in the Logitech range, but it’s pretty good. One thing to note is that it’s designed for right-handed operation, and there isn’t a left-handed version.

The wireless Logitech MX Master 3S mouse operates on a battery that offers 70 days’ use on a full charge, or three hours’ use on a one-minute charge. The Bluetooth connection it uses is low energy. The mouse can even work across three devices and, when paired with an MX keyboard, the entire system follows in sync.

The movement of this mouse operates from an 8,000-dpi optical sensor that works on almost any surface. When testing, I couldn’t find a flat surface on which it didn’t work. Button clicks and wheel shifts are virtually silent, too. What’s particularly interesting about this mouse is that it works just as well with an iPad as it does with an iMac. Everything is set and controlled from the Logi Options+ app.

I’m fussy when it comes to mice and keyboards, and the Logitech MX Master 3S for Mac is a mouse I intend to keep. It passed my tests with flying colors, and it’s staying in my arsenal.
