The High Altar @ St. John The Divine Cathedral – New York. Conceived in 1828, construction on this cathedral actually began in 1892. 11 years later in 1903 the massive granite columns visible in this image were hoisted into place. The cathedral is the tallest in the world. The Statue of Liberty could stand beneath the dome over the crossing. Nearly 29 years later, the Rose Window, a stained glass window made up of 10,000 pieces of glass was installed. At 40 feet in diameter, it’s the 3rd largest in the world…#pixeldave #bentondownsphoto
